From ideation to production, SISSA Medialab curates projects that communicate research and innovation for both public and private entities. Combining different professional expertise and tools, these initiatives engage a variety of audiences, from research experts to families and schools, tailored to the specific needs of each project.

National Biodiversity Future Centre
The National Biodiversity Future Centre (NBFC) is the first national research and innovation centre dedicated to biodiversity. Within Spoke 7, focused on the relationship between science and society, SISSA Medialab and Dotik (a communication company based in Cagliari) have collaborated in the creation of various products and activities. These include the creation of learning materials and innovative educational content on a wide range of topics related to biodiversity, the organisation of a training programme on science communication for researchers and technical-administrative staff, the design and organisation of events open to different audiences, and the production of a podcast.
Created in 2023 and funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) through European Union funds – NextGenerationEU, the Centre brings together more than 2000 researchers from around 50 universities, research centres and companies.

Joint Technology Transfer Office
JoTTO is the Joint Technology Transfer Office of the first six Italian Schools of Advanced Studies, universities of academic and research excellence endowed with special autonomy, including SISSA in Trieste. SISSA Medialab developed the Office’s new communication plan through a participatory process, identifying effective communication strategies and defining SMART objectives, KPIs, and target audiences.
Founded in 2015, JoTTO includes, in addition to SISSA, the Scuola IMT Alti Studi in Lucca, the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa, the Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS in Pavia and the Gran Sasso Science Institute. The Office’s mission is to provide a common service to the six Schools, spanning different scientific fields, focused on research valorisation and the Third Mission of universities.
