From training to dissemination, from the development of new public engagement methodologies to the creation of networks among professionals, SISSA Medialab stands out for its cross-cutting approach to European projects.

Coordinated Opportunities for Advanced Leadership and Engagement in Science Communication in Europe
The COALESCE project aims to create a European Competence Center for Science Communication to promote quality information, improve accessibility to scientific knowledge, and combat misinformation on scientific issues. COALESCE takes an interdisciplinary approach and involves international, national and regional entities from almost all European countries in a co-creation process.

Partnerships for pathways to Higher Education and science engagement in Regional Clusters of Open Schooling
The PHERECLOS project was based on the experience of Children’s Universities in Europe and beyond. The project involved the establishment of six "Local Education Clusters" (LECs), which brought together schools and other relevant actors in the educational ecosystem of six pilot regions. The LECs became incubators that facilitated the dialogue and the co-creation of joint activities among these organisations in the field of open schooling.

Science communication to tackle digitalisation challenge
The RETHINK project provided a novel view of the new science communication landscape by shedding light on the barriers and inequalities that hinder open and reflective connections between science and society. To address the challenges of digitization, the project also mapped current science communication activities in Europe using input from R&I stakeholders.

Raising Awareness and Interest in STEAM Employment
Throughout the RAISE project, a variety of intellectual outputs were developed with the constant collaboration of all six partner organisations. The most innovative output was the development of the ‘RAISE Careers’ app, which can be downloaded for free via the Android Play Store. This app provides guidance and counselling on VET (Vocational Education and Training) careers in Europe and helps motivate students to pursue careers in STEM.

Facilitating Engagement of Adults in Science and Technology
The FEAST project aimed to develop workshops and tools for parents to improve their personal scientific knowledge and critical thinking, as well as their skills as informal science educators of their children. The project also included training courses for science educators and museum teachers. The FEAST project led to the creation of a social network dedicated to parents, the FAMILIES SCIENCE HUB.

Children as Agents of Change for the future of Science in Society
A mutual learning mobilisation action aimed at promoting accessibility of higher education for girls and boys from all social and cultural backgrounds. Another goal of the SiS CATALYST project was also to bring the needs and opinions of children and teenagers to higher education institutions as agents of change.

Socioeconomic Sciences: Communicating Outcomes Oriented to Policy
The primary aim of the SCOOP project was to connect researchers and policymakers, enabling the former to communicate their research effectively and the latter to make informed decisions based on solid evidence. This promoted a decision-making process that included consultation with researchers from the outset.

Facilitators' Units Network for Debates
The FUND project worked on the creation of a European network of people involved in promoting scientific governance through discussion games and other participatory procedures. The project led to the development of the discussion game PlayDecide, one of the most widely used methodological formats to facilitate discussion on controversial issues concerning science, technology and innovation.

Professionalisation in Learning Technology and Science
The Pilots project worked towards the professionalisation of the role of explainers in science centres and museums - both through developing European training courses and through research on the role of explainers. The project made use of the most up-to-date European literature, methodologies, protocols and other results coming from European good practices in order to update explainers’ skills and knowledge, with a particular focus on adult visitors.
